Staple Saturday: the timeless White Button Down

At the current moment, I own 4 of white button downs: Classic, 3/4 sleeve, short sleeve, and the boyfriend cut.

In my opinion it is the single most versatile piece of fabric that should be hanging in your closet. It can be worn with just about everything. Shorts, jeans, slacks, skirt, or over a dress. You can wear it with pearls and a black pencil skirt to work or with a pair of leather shorts and booties for night time.

My personal favorite - (Monday's Outfit for work - picture to come)
white shirt + straight jeans + cute belt + big necklace + tan or nude shoes + tan or black bag

Let's give some examples...

Full skirt always works well with a more structured shirt
Leather shorts, great for fall and big trend for 2012, pairs well the boyfriend blouse
Belted Maxi Skirts bring in a relaxed feel but still look put together.

#TBT: Fashion Decisions of the mid 2000's aka The College Years

Like I mentioned in my 1st post. I have had my "really?!?! That's that I went with" moments.

Looking back a college, I had quite a few of those.

Jean and Camo mini skirts, more tanks and polos layered on top of one another (thank you Kanye West), and then there's this.

Who told me looking like a ruffly banana was "in". I can't blame my friends for letting me wear this. I don't think they knew that much better either.

The only, and ONLY 2 defenses I have for this is that it was my Best Friend's Bachelorette Party and I was 20.

There you go ladies and gents. Throwback Thursday! The Good and the Ruffly Banana.

Outfit - Summer and Fall Cross Over

So Today I wanted to share my outfit with everyone. I was very happy with it!

Skirt: Savvy Girl - great boutique in Miami in the UM area -
 http://www.facebook.com/savvygirlsinc?ref=ts

Shirt: Forever 21 v-neck (they have them all the time)

Necklace: eBay (bubble bib)

I like to think the colors are fall enough, but I live in Miami, its 90+ outside, our "Fall" doesn't start until mid-October. I plan to wear this skirt with my leather jacket the minute it goes below 65*.

Trending Tuesday: Mixing Prints this Fall..

My outfit that never was for FNO's was all about this amazing fall trend. It can be a little tricky to pull off. Here are some tips and tricks to really pull it together the right way..

I found these pictures on Pinterest from other great blogs. I follow them all on Pinterest and on my blog. Be sure you follow these lovely ladies too!

All about picking one big print and layer from there. - This needs to be your WOW! piece.  Let's say a leopard print or a large geometric or floral pattern

Mix in a more subtle pattern or texture - think stripes, small plaid, dots, lace, tweed, houndstooth. Think of these are your neutrals.

One of the most important rules is to stick with a theme or pallet. Think Nautical or Spring Time Florals or All Dots or a Color (see above picture for a great example)

Stripes and Dots are the 101 of mixing patterns

Mixing in patterns with your accessories. Add a scarf, bag, a pair of fun patterned heals or ballet flats.

I know you can't contain yourself..

Thinking about how I was going to come up with daily posts and how I was going to organize the plethora of content that is headed your way became a tiny issue.. So I came up with my daily aliterations.

I know, you can barely contain yourself. I couldn't either.

Makeover Mondays - How to update basics in your wardrobe and how to makeover your current wardrobe by incorporating simple statement pieces to create a whole new look.

Trending Tuesday - Let's make sure you can do all of the seasons top trends! Simple ways to incorporate runway looks in practical ways. Fing pieces that maybe suitable for all budget sizes

Might be 1, might be all 3.. Let's see what happens!
Wedding Wednesdays - I am a certified wedding and events planner (I need a day job) and I currently work for a national healthcare company doing their events. I am also getting married in December. So I wanted to share some things I have learned along the way. I also will be going through some great pinterest finds and ideas for your future events!

Working Girl Wednesdays - Some of us may have to wear business professional everyday, some of us can come in very casual, while others (like me) get the best of both worlds. I have worked for a conservative politician for 3 years, in investment and financial services, and back in events. I know an outfit for everything and how to not suffer through your day because of what you are wearing

Wardrobe Wednesday- I have been collecting magazine articles on how to make your wardrobe as practical and organized as possible while still making you feel like you are Carrie Bradshaw.

#ThrowbackThursdays - Which fashion trends have made a comeback.. Anything you are waiting to see trending again? What was your favorite fashion trend back in the day??

Fabulous Friday - Well, that's what Friday's are.. FABULOUS!

Staple Saturday - Back to the Basics.. what staples do you have and how can you make sure that you are utilizing them to the best of their abilities. Also, what's the best way to take care of your investment pieces.

Sum Up Sundays - I will be showing you some of the great posts and items I have found throughout the week via twitter, pinterest, magaizes, etc.

Back online..

Its been a rough last few days..

On Saturday we had to put our puppy down.. He was the best boxer there ever was! So Thursday, we made the decision to put him down when I got home from work.. (hence my lack of a FNO post)

So back online.. We put the full length mirror back on my IKEA wardrobe... and let's get fabulous people!

See ya laters..

Fashion Night's Out Outfit Planning - Part 2: We have hit a speed bump..

It is my fave time of year in which Fashion in the US gets all excited.. American Designers, Fashionistas, Socialites, Celebrities, etc are all getting ready for New York Fashion Week.

My 2nd favorite reason is that So You Think You Can Dance is on and I suddenly think I am light, limber, and that my Fiance can catch my 5"9 150 pounds of woman coming at him at warp speed from across the living room as I yell "CATCH ME!!" This doesn't end well by the way.. I have tried and tried, but I am denied the sensation those graceful dancers get when they fly into the harms of ripped chiseled men.

So I took a mental break.. I came back half way through the show to create my EPIC creation of an outfit.. I assembled, was getting ready to put on and then it dawned on me.. I don't have an unobstructed full length mirror.. (we just moved in together.. my parents house had mirrors all over the place.. I never had to purchase one of them) I promise I will have one soon...

You are going to have to see my outfit as I would like to call it.. "Puzzle Style"

Let me know your thoughts... :)

Steve Madden Booties (bought Holiday Season 2010) - I live in Miami (the land of less is more in fashion), its totally ok to wear these without the tights.. Tights = humidity + 100 degrees = strange looks

Top from Forever 21 - Still online - http://pinterest.com/statementpiece/to-buy-online-like-now/

Leopard Shorts - I have a high waist pair.. My sister got them for me.. I am not sure where she found them. It was a few months ago.

Necklace - Forever 21 (2011)

Bracelets - I make them. They are quite fab. (email me if you want details... I refuse to pay big money for things I know I can make for about 20% of what they want to charge me)

This is my handy dandy sidekick. This is my go to bag, its been all over the place. Its small, only hold a phone, lipstick, small camera, CC's, & maybe your Car or House key (probably not both if you are taking your camera)
If you can still find them - Gorjana Hudson Quilted Crossbody Bag
